Paul Créange was born in 1987 in Troyes, France. He currently lives in Paris and works in Saint-Denis.
After studying philosophy at the Faculty of Letters in Nice, he graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2015. His work results from a progressive hybridization of photography with sculpture and light installation. Most of the materials he uses come from reuse, which, beyond the anecdotal, determines the form and meaning of his latest works. The fragments of photographic images integrated into his pieces found an echo in these scraps of materials from the world of industry, destined for destruction, which he collects and transmutes into his hybrid sculptures.
He participates in solo and group exhibitions in France and abroad (“NextGen: The New Guard: Paris”, Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Paris, 2022; “As it comes”, Karl Marx Studio, Paris, 2021; “Low tech”, Meyrin, Switzerland, 2021; “Detour”, Los Angeles, 2020; “Horology”, Jack Hanley Gallery, New York City, 2019). He conceives site-specific public works (Program “A building, a work of art”, Saint-Denis, 2022) and permanent works in private collections and foundations.

Après des études de philosophie à la faculté de lettres de Nice, il est diplômé des Beaux-Arts de Paris en 2015. Son travail est le résultat d’une hybridation progressive de la photographie avec la sculpture et l’installation lumineuse. La plupart des matériaux qu’il utilise proviennent du réemploi, ce qui, au-delà de l’anecdote, détermine la forme et le sens de ses dernières œuvres. Les fragments d’images photographiques intégrés dans ses pièces trouvent un écho dans ces rebuts de matériaux issus du monde de l’industrie, destinés à la destruction, qu’il collecte et transmute dans ses sculptures hybrides.
Il participe à des expositions personnelles et collectives en France et à l’étranger (“As it comes”, Karl Marx Studio, Paris, 2021 ; “Low tech”, Meyrin, Suisse 2021 ; “Detour”, Los Angeles, 2020 ; “Horology”, Jack Hanley Gallery, New York City, 2019). Il conçoit des œuvres publiques in situ (Programme “Un bâtiment, une œuvre d’art”, Saint-Denis, 2022) ainsi que des œuvres permanentes dans des collections privées et des fondations.
